The Role:
As a Barista at Riverstone Kitchen, you’ll be crafting consistently excellent coffee while engaging with customers in a fast-paced, high-energy environment. You’ll work alongside a supportive Front of House team to deliver smooth service from morning coffees to busy weekend brunches.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve high-quality espresso-based beverages

  • Maintain a clean and efficient workstation

  • Engage warmly with customers and work collaboratively with the wider FOH team

  • Monitor stock and assist with ordering when required

  • Follow health and safety standards and uphold our commitment to quality

Based just outside Oamaru in the stunning North Otago countryside, Riverstone Kitchen is one of New Zealand’s most celebrated regional restaurants. We pride ourselves on making almost everything in-house, and baking is a key part of what we do—whether it’s fresh sourdough, flaky pastries, or beautiful cakes.

Our kitchen team works closely with our on-site gardens and local producers to deliver fresh, honest food. The Role:
As our Baker, you’ll be responsible for preparing a range of breads, pastries, and other baked goods to a consistently high standard. You’ll work closely with our kitchen team to ensure our cabinet offerings and menus reflect the quality and care Riverstone Kitchen is known for.

  • Prepare and bake a variety of breads, scones, cakes, and pastries

  • Follow recipes and production schedules to ensure consistency

  • Maintain a clean, organised and efficient baking area

  • Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering as needed

  • Uphold food safety and hygiene standards at all times

  • Experience in a commercial baking or pastry role

  • A genuine passion for baking and producing beautiful food

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Riverstone Kitchen is a vibrant and busy restaurant with a dedicated team, passionate about delivering a high-quality food and dining experience.

Situated in rural Otago, 15km north of Oamaru, Riverstone Kitchen creates its menu based around the seasonal produce sourced from its extensive kitchen gardens and local suppliers. Our food is simple, full of flavour and delivered with exceptional quality and care.

Everything is made on site, from scratch, including bread, pastry, ice cream, stocks, sauces, sausages, bacon – we do it all! We also breakdown all our lambs in house along with the occasional pig and beef cow. If you want variety in your workday – we have it.
