The Role:
We are seeking a reliable and capable chef de partie to join our team. This role involves preparing and plating dishes, supervising junior staff, managing inventory, maintaining strict hygiene standards, and collaborating with senior chefs for menu development and requires someone who can work effectively within a team and follow established procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prep, cook, and plate high-quality dishes

  • Work closely with the Head Chef and team to keep service smooth and consistent

  • Running your own section during service

  • Ability to handle busy services with a calm, positive attitude

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and instructions

  • A positive attitude and excellent time management

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet and seat guests with warmth and professionalism
• Take food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently
• Serve meals and drinks to a high standard
• Maintain cleanliness and presentation of the dining area
• Handle customer enquiries and ensure a positive dining experience
• Work closely with the kitchen and wider team to keep service smooth

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Previous hospitality or customer service experience (preferred but not essential)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Good time management and ability to multitask
• Confidence handling busy service periods

Riverstone Kitchen is a vibrant and busy restaurant with a dedicated team, passionate about delivering a high-quality food and dining experience.

Situated in rural Otago, 15km north of Oamaru, Riverstone Kitchen creates its menu based around the seasonal produce sourced from its extensive kitchen gardens and local suppliers. Our food is simple, full of flavour and delivered with exceptional quality and care.

Everything is made on site, from scratch, including bread, pastry, ice cream, stocks, sauces, sausages, bacon – we do it all! We also breakdown all our lambs in house along with the occasional pig and beef cow. If you want variety in your workday – we have it.
