Baker

Full time, Part time or Casual


Passionate about baking? Love working with fresh, seasonal ingredients?
We’re looking for a baker to join the Riverstone Kitchen team – someone who’s excited to work hands-on with sourdoughs, pastries, desserts, and cabinet treats that are all made from scratch.

Based just north of Oamaru in the North Otago countryside, Riverstone Kitchen is one of NZ’s most celebrated regional restaurants. We bake with purpose – using ingredients grown on-site in our gardens and sourced from some of the best local producers around.

You’ll be working in a small, tight-knit team where creativity, quality, and care are everything. Whether you’ve got a couple of years' experience or more, if you love baking and want to be part of something grounded and meaningful, we’d love to hear from you.

What the role involves:

  • Baking artisan breads, cakes, scones, pastries and seasonal desserts

  • Working early mornings with a focused, professional team

  • Keeping your station clean, stocked, and well-organised

  • Contributing ideas to seasonal recipe development

  • Upholding food safety and consistency across everything we serve

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has at least 2 years' experience in a bakery or pastry role

  • Works well under pressure and independently

  • Takes pride in producing high-quality, honest food

  • Has a great attitude, good time management, and a willingness to learn

  • Is available for early morning and weekend shifts

Key Responsibilities:

Riverstone Kitchen is a vibrant and busy restaurant with a dedicated team, passionate about delivering a high-quality food and dining experience.

Situated in rural Otago, 15km north of Oamaru, Riverstone Kitchen creates its menu based around the seasonal produce sourced from its extensive kitchen gardens and local suppliers. Our food is simple, full of flavour and delivered with exceptional quality and care.

Everything is made on site, from scratch, including bread, pastry, ice cream, stocks, sauces, sausages, bacon – we do it all! We also breakdown all our lambs in house along with the occasional pig and beef cow. If you want variety in your workday – we have it.
