Riverstone Castle is the creation of Dot and Neil Smith, set on their family’s dairy farm behind Riverstone Kitchen and surrounded by a tranquil lake.
Built from locally quarried Oamaru stone, the castle provides a striking backdrop to the wider Riverstone complex. What began as Dot’s childhood dream to one day live in a castle is now a remarkable reality. Years of visiting stately homes, historic gardens and grand castles abroad inspired her to design and collect the unique furnishings and features that now fill Riverstone Castle.
Dot’s vision was brought to life with the help of Wanaka architect Sarah Scott and her husband, Neil.
Guided tours of the castle are held periodically throughout the year. To keep up with upcoming tour dates, follow Riverstone Castle on Facebook.
